The main formats, briefly
JPG is best for photos and is accepted almost everywhere, but it doesn't support transparency. PNG keeps transparency and sharp edges, ideal for logos and graphics, but files are larger. WEBP is a modern format that's smaller than both, though some older apps still don't open it — which is often why you need to convert it.
Which format should you pick?
For a photo you'll upload somewhere, JPG is the safe choice. For anything with a transparent background — a logo or a cut-out — use PNG. For your own website where size matters, WEBP loads faster. When in doubt, JPG works almost everywhere.
Convert it in your browser
The conversion runs entirely on your device, so your image is never uploaded to a server. Open the Convert Image tool, add your photo, choose the format you need, and download the result. No sign-up, no limits, and nothing leaves your computer.
